#MUNforALL

LSEMUN High School Outreach Programme

At LSEMUN High School, we believe that Model United Nations should be an academic activity for everyone to experience, irrespective of  background.

Find out how the Secretariat is supporting #MUNforALL initiatives:

LSEMUN High School Scholarship

Every year, the Secretariat allocates a fixed number of scholarships depending on the intended capacity for that year. The Scholarship provides a non-means tested method to allow delegates â€‹who are otherwise in need of financial support to join the conference free-of-charge. While the scholarship is non-means tested, priority will be given to students enrolled in state schools.

Following changes to pricing structures and intended capacity, we expect to offer more scholarship places than preceding years (i.e. more than LSE YouthMUN 2023). Catering will also be provided for students who are on the LSEMUN High School Scholarship.

Assistant Chairs are also eligible for the scholarship, but should note that participation fees have been waived this year, i.e. you can join free of charge.

The LSEMUN Academy

All registered delegates this year will be provided complimentary access to the online-based LSEMUN Academy, which will provide self-paced training materials to delegates which will train up their research skills in International Relations, as well as public speaking and speechwriting skills. Teachers will also be provided access to this platform. This is part of conference preparation and is separate from the LSEMUN High School Tour and will also be the first point of contact for delegates to interact with their chairs and the Secretariat. We expect this platform to be available in mid-January 2024.

Delegates will also be able to sign up to office hours with members of the Secretariat to get their conference queries answered. All recipients of the LSEMUN High School Scholarship will also be assigned a mentor which will provide personalised support and guidance.

LSEMUN Assistant Chair Programme

The LSEMUN Assistant Chair Programme offers an invaluable chance for sixth form students (Years 12-13 or equivalent) to shadow our chairs in the running of committees, all of whom are from well-known universities in the United Kingdom and are themselves seasoned delegates and chairs in the UK MUN Circuit.

The aim is to provide sixth-form students with an opportunity to approach MUN from another perspective (i.e. conference preparation and leadership skills). Assistant Chairs will be invited to hybrid workshops held online/at the LSE and will be working closely with our committee chairs in the preparation of study guides and chairing philosophy. These skills are highly sought after in tertiary institutions and would make them competitive chairing candidates in the UK's University MUN Circuit.

The LSEMUN HS Tour

The LSEMUN High School Tour is an invaluable opportunity for your students to meet members of the Secretariat in-person and get their questions answered, and engaging with LSE students prior to the conference. The LSEMUN High School Tour is coming to the entirety of the United Kingdom (if your school is outside Greater London, it will be time-specific to group schools which are close to each other) and will be free-of-charge to all registered schools (i.e. you will not have to sponsor any transportation costs).

Following the announcement of the LSEMUN Academy, the LSEMUN High School Tour builds on the skills provided in the training programmes, which culminates in an interactive simulation of Model United Nations before students engage with the actual conference. It is also an opportunity to get any LSE-related questions answered.
